Larry Sousa has directed and choreographed musicals from coast to coast. His work has appeared on the stages of Pasadena Playhouse, Goodspeed Musicals, Joyce Theatre NYC, Garry Marshall’s Falcon Theatre, SpeakEasy Stage, 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle, Boston Children’s Theatre, Utah Musical Theatre and countless more. Larry is the recipient of the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, the L.A. Ovation Award, two IRNE Awards, the OnStage Critics Award, the Backstage Garland Award, and he has twice been named “Choreographer of the Year” by the American Dance Awards. Before turning to directing and choreography, Larry performed in TV sitcoms, films, commercials, and several musicals on Broadway. He teaches at The Boston Conservatory and here at BSU. Larry earned his BFA in theatre from Ithaca College, and pursued a unique interdisciplinary MFA in theatre at the University of California at Irvine. Upcoming, Larry will choreograph the new Broadway-bound musical MerryGoRound composed by the Sherman Brothers (the legendary composers of the musical you’re seeing right now).
